Dr. Taylor Turkington

Director, BibleEquipping

Leading BibleEquipping

Taylor launched BibleEquipping in 2020 to continue the work she had been doing for more than a decade training women to study and teach the Bible, and to do it with people she loved. Today she enjoys teaching, leading, and coaching she gets to do through BibleEquipping. Still, she stays awake at night dreaming and praying for new ways to equip women to serve the Church. And, let’s be real, sometimes dreaming about flowers to plant in her garden.

Previously, Taylor launched and directed the Women’s Training Network for The Gospel Coalition and co-founded The Verity Fellowship for Western Seminary. Her experience includes living overseas, training women internationally, and working in the local church. She cares deeply about supporting and encouraging Bible teachers so they can serve their local churches and communities even better equipped.

Studies and Writing

She received an MA in Biblical and Theological Studies and Doctor of Ministry, focused in exposition of the Old Testament, from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, where she lives with her family. She continues to serve at the seminary, lecturing and leading as a trustee on the board.

Trembling Faith is her first book and walks through Habakkuk’s journey of faith in a chaotic world. Taylor enjoys studying and writing about the Minor Prophets (particularly the 7th century ones), yet you’ll often hear her pondering about healthy use of power, chronic illness, and everyday discipleship and evangelism. She also loves teaching through a book of the Bible and talking about homiletics (hence the DMin about it).

You can see her videos and read her writing at The Gospel Coalition, Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Christianity Today, and in our own training articles. You can reach out to her through BibleEquipping. She loves meeting new people.

Taylor’s Speaking

  • Bible Teaching

Taylor loves to bring gospel-centered Bible teaching to events. Whether it be a large conference, a women’s retreat, or church event, the Lord meets us in his word. She has taught across the globe at churches and conferences for more than 15 years. She has a variety of series to offer, pointing to the goodness of God and calling us to live in faithfulness to him.

  • Training and Lectures

Equipping believers to serve others is one of Taylor’s greatest joys. She has trained at TGC regional and national conferences, seminaries, parachurch institutes, and church equipping events. She has led courses for ministry leaders in the Middle East, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, having lived in five countries. She loves to teach about Bible interpretation, Bible teaching, genre, the prophets, and specific books of the Bible.

  • Consultation and Conversations

Sometimes you don’t need a speaker, but you need to have a conversation or two about how to raise up the speakers around you. Taylor has worked with ministry leaders to hire new women on their team, design curriculum to train Bible teachers in their congregation, and coach their teams for a coming teaching series. And no, I don’t always wear a black jacket… really.

Maybe you want focused instruction to grow your Bible teaching—this is one of our favorite things. Because we never stop growing as Bible teachers. Participate in one of our seven-week cohorts. Our Exposition Cohort covers the fundamentals from which we never graduate related to exposition. Our Genre Cohorts dig deep into a specific literary type to help mold our interpretation and teaching to how the Scripture is communicating.
